Sr. Carla Thomas, Asst. Minister, Sr. Donna Driscoll, Minister, Sr. Margaret Henry, Councilor The Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (MFIC), are a community of Roman Catholic Sisters, founded in 1873 by Elizabeth Hayes, (Mother Mary Ignatius of Jesus) a convert from Anglicanism, who began our first mission in Belle Prairie, Minnesota, USA. We number approximately 250 sisters worldwide, and follow the Third Order Rule of Saint Francis of Assisi. We seek to embrace a Gospel way of life and to serve in the Church, especially among the poor and marginalized peoples of our world. Our missions are on the East Coast of the USA and in nine other countries worldwide (Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Egypt, England, Ireland, Italy, Papua New Guinea, and Peru). Our Sisters are involved in a variety of ministries: social and pastoral services, education, catechetical instruction, foreign missions, health care, prison ministry and others. The United States Governance Circle, one of the six Circles into which we are divided, includes missions in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Alexandria, Egypt. We number 145 Sisters and 45 Associate (non-vowed) members. Our Leadership House is in Newton, Massachusetts, and our Motherhouse is in Rome, Italy. Each of us began our journey with a first step! The witness of joy and simplicity of women committed to following in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, and Elizabeth Hayes inspired us. If there is a stirring in your heart for "the more" of life, we invite you to come and see. May the Lord bless you and guide you. Sister Donna Driscoll, MFIC USA Minister
